Famara beach is a great place for kitesurfing
Famara beach Lanzarote, is a beautiful place to kitesurf, the best months for constant good winds are from March to September, but October to April also offer great kitesurfing days. With its more than 4km beach Famara has plenty of space for kiting, and offers some of the most spectacular views to enjoy while kitting. The beach is located under the famous famara cliffs, also know as el risco, which over look the village and the island of la graciosa. The best Lanzarote winds fro kitesurfing are the trade winds or "Alisio winds" in spanish, these winds blow predominantly from the North West, and these are the best winds to enjoy in famara. One of the advantages of Famara is that you never get offshore winds which will take you out to sea, or direct in land winds which with the waves, can make it very difficult as well as uncomfortable to kite in. The waves at Famara have a swell size between 0.3 and 1m from spring to autumn and in the winter may go up to 4m, making it a paradise for surfers and wave riding, but even with 4m swell beginners can still go out and have a great time, without getting into the stronger waves. Famara holds one of the PKRA wave competitions, normally during the month of April and in which you can get to see some of the best kiters in the world riding, and jumping the waves at Caleta de famara.
As you can see this week is not looking too bad
