restaurante el risco

The tables are simple but comfortable and the service and food are excellent. Most of the menu is made of sea dishes, and you will enjoy some delicious fish, which you can pair with some fabulous wine from the Lanzarote region.Restaurante el Risco Considered my many one of the best restaurants in Lanzarote. Prices are very reasonable and quantity is abundant. Some of the traditional dishes are: Pulpo a la plancha Papas arrugadas Almejas a la marinera Arroz Caldoso Pate de marisco Restaurante famara

Famara beach is found on the beautiful island of Lanzarote in the canary islands. Situated on the North West coast of Lanzarote, it belongs to the municipal of Teguise.

Famara beach

is the the longest beach in Lanzarote, as you drive down the the road from Teguise the sight is just impressive, famara is straight ahead and you can admire the sea with the island of the graciosa on the horizon. What makes famara beach so spectacular are the majestic cliffs called "el risco de famara" that rise to a height of more than 600m and are the first part of the island that rose from the sea 11 million years ago during the miocene epoch.   As you get to the beach you start to see the gleaming white sand which has formed some attractive sand dunes by the road. You will notice the line of red flags, which alert of the danger of the strong atlantic currents which don't make famara the best place for swimming, you will however find that farama is ideal for learning to surf.   The beach has divided in to three imaginary areas, although there are no signs to inform you, the beginning of the beach is the main area for relaxing, sunbathing, and kids play this part of the beach  has some rocks which when the tides go down form small seashore pools where kids will enjoy splashing, exploring and trying to catch little fish.

The middle area of famara beach

is recommended for the surf activities, on a typical summer morning you can find surf schools with up to 30 people in wetsuits and colored lycra T-shirts from the multiple surf schools which are located in samara. The smaller summer waves and length of the beach make it an idle spot for learning, although in the winter wave height can double or even triple and make it a great spot all year round. Further down the beach you will find the kite surf area. In the summer weekends the sight is beautiful as you see sometimes dozens of colored kites in the sky, surfing and jumping the waves. Famara beach is perfect for kit surfers of all levels, the best time of the year is from April to October  being July and August the months with more constant wind. In the summer the wind is normally very constant, and the waves are smaller, in the winter the larger waves make ideal for wave riding, you can easily walk up the beach and enjoy an amazing wave ride down wind. The best time of the day for kitesurfing is with low tide as you will enjoy the large sandy beach and shallow waters.

famara beach afternoon

The often windy conditions of this beach may make you love it or hate it, if the day is nice and sunny the wind can make it even more pleasant, but when you often find clouds attracted bye the cliffs the wind can make it quite chilly.   The town of famara has a number of different shops where you can get lessons or rent your equipment. And most of them have certified courses which you get you enjoying surfing and kitesurfing in no time.   The final activity you will find in Lanzarote is Naturism, at the end of the beach you will often find nude people enjoy the sun or lying in the rock shelters which have been built out of lava rocks to shelter on those windy days.   In conclusion famara beach is great for:   -Surfing -Kitesurfing -Walking -Naturism   Childreen and family please visit famara with low winds, otherwise it can be very uncomfortable.
